Team Brazelton, Although it is nice to get a few days off of school to relax, it is very important to remember the true meaning of Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a time for all of us reflect on the things in our lives that we are most thankful for. I would like for you to take a few moments to think about the things in your life you are most appreciate of. It could be something at home, something from school, your friends, your family, your education, or anything else! Sadly, not everyone is fortunate enough to have the same privileges that we all enjoy every day, and it is so very important to try not to take those things for granted. Thanksgiving and the upcoming winter holidays are the perfect time to tell (and show) those people we care about just how grateful we are! In the comments section, I would like for you to write a brief summary of the things in your life you are most thankful for. Remember to check your grammar and spelling before you post! Gobble, Gobble! Mr. Brazelton Team Brazelton, Almost one month ago you started your 5th grade journey. You've learned about routines, expectations, fractions, a memorable book character named "Edward", and much more. I would like for you to take a moment to think about the past month. What has been your favorite part of 5th grade so far? What has been the biggest challenge? What are you looking forward to? When you're finished brainstorming, post your reply in the comments section, Please make sure to check for grammar and spelling errors before you submit your response. Say it, Mean it, Do it! Mr. Brazelton Good morning, class! I hope everybody has enjoyed the start of their summer vacation. I've been keeping busy with planning my wedding, watching the Detroit Tigers and tutoring a few times a week. As all of you prepare for middle school, please remember to do something education related during your time off. You can read each day, make up your own math problems and then double check them on a calculator, keep a summer writing journal, or even spend a few minutes each day to play math or reading games online! Anything you do over the summer is going to give you a head start in middle school, so you're only going to make your life easier once September rolls around! Use the comment section to write about what you've been up to this summer. You can write about things you're doing to help prepare for middle school or anything fun that you and your family have done! I hope all of you have a great summer break, and I wish all of you the very best of luck in middle school. You are a champion! Say it, Mean it, Do it, Mr. Brazelton Team Brazelton, With February soon approaching, we are officially more than halfway done with our 5th grade school year. Also, staff from the middle school will be visiting us next week to discuss some exciting things that are coming your way in 6th grade. In the comments section, I would like for you to write about your thoughts concerning going to middle school. Are you looking forward to it? Are you nervous at all? What types of things are excited about? What do you think is going to be the hardest part? Remember use complete sentences, and be sure to proofread your response before you click submit. Say it, Mean it, Do it! Mr. Brazelton Each year, thousands of cooked turkeys grace the plates of our dinner tables. Pumpkin pie is shared, as well as cranberry sauce and stuffing! Friends and familiy spend important time together creating new memories, while kids cheer about a few extra days off of school. As exciting as those parts of Thanksgiving are; let's not forget the true meaning of the holiday. Thanksgiving is a time for all of us to acknowledge those important things in our lives, and give thanks to them. Think about the things in your life that you are thankful for. What makes your life so important and happy? What things, people, or opportunities do you have that you are thankful for? Remember, not everybody has the same opportunities or privileges. In the comments section, please share with your classmates the things in your life that you are thankful for. Be sure to include why you are thankful for those things. As always, be sure to check for complete sentences, proper spelling, and grammar. Remember to never include your last name, address, or any other personal information. Have a Happy Thanksgiving! You are a champion! Mr. Brazelton This school year we will be covering a ton of exciting information. Math, science, reading, writing, and everything in between! Each subject is unique and important in its own way. Below you will find our first classroom poll; your objective is to vote for one school subject that is your favorite. Then, in the comments section you need to post why that subject is your favorite. What is it about that subject that makes it so interesting to you? Has it always been your favorite? What fascinates you about it? My favorite subject is a tough decision because I love teaching (and learning) about all of them! I also believe that each subject is very important so we can become balanced learners. If I had to choose, I would pick Math. I love problem solving, and seeing the relationships between numbers and the world around me. I think it's fascinating how often math is used in my everyday life. Whether I'm grocery shopping, checking out the statistics of my favorite sports players, or calculating grades for my students- math is everywhere! Before you submit your own response, be sure to proofread your comment, check that you have included details, and reread your writing to make sure that it makes sense. Let's see which subject takes the lead! Do your best writing, Team Brazelton! Good evening class of 2015 Team Brazelton members! It was so wonderful meeting everybody today.
